On Monday, March 16, Rep. Miner, and State Rep. John E. Piscopo, R-Thomaston,  participated in a press conference in opposition to Senate Bill 353. The legislation would force firearms manufacturers to adopt microstamping technology, which places information on discharged cartridge cases. Representatives from several Connecticut-based firearms manufacturers and both the Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation and Connecticut Association of Firearms Retailers spoke against the legislation. Opponents note the bill would drive firearms manufacturers from the state because of an astronomical increase in costs and that the technology is easily defeated by criminals.
